Maundy Thursday
Today is Maundy Thursday, the first day of the Easter Triduum.
Catholic Christians throughout the whole world gather together to remember and celebrate:
First, the Last Supper of our Lord when He instituted the Holy Eucharist - He gives us His Body and Blood that "whoever eats His Body and drink His Blood shall not perish but have life everlasting".
Second, our Lord washed His disciples' feet and commanded them to wash each others' feet. We too must serve each other.
Third, our Lord's agony in the garden of Gethsemane where He was sorrowful to the point of death. But He humbly submit Himself to the Father's will, "Not my will but Yours be done."
Fourth, the Lord commanded us to "keep awake" and "pray not be put to the test" - and He is asking us even today "Had you not the strength to keep awake for one hour?"
Let us therefore, remember and celebrate, watch and pray...
